Pantry Recipe – Ideas Sardine and mushroom wraps

By Ella

Everything I used to make this meal (except for garlic and oil) came from my local #CommunityPantry , of which I am a member. Every week we pay a small amount, and in return we have access to lots of food (fresh and dried/tinned) which would otherwise have gone to waste. The #Pantry is run on the principles of #SolidarityNotCharity and all are welcome to join as a member or volunteer 🤗

I’m still learning how to cook, and you never know what ingredients you’re going to get from the Pantry so it’s forcing me to get creative with my recipes and try new things – I have never tried sardines before! Ingredients are onion, mushrooms, spinach, tinned sardines and wraps, I also used garlic and olive oil from my own cupboard. Not sure if this is how you’d normally eat sardines but it tasted good! 🍄

Recipe:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions (thinly sliced). Add some chopped garlic or garlic puree.
  2. Roughly chop the mushrooms and add them to the pan.
  3. Once the mushrooms are cooked, pick the fresh leaves from the spinach stems and add them to the pan.
  4. Open the tin of sardines, add these to the pan and stir everything together until its hot.
  5. Microwave the wraps for 10 seconds to warm them up.
  6. Construct the wrap and eat!
