About DreamMachine?
Dreamachine is a powerful new kind of immersive experience exploring the limitless potential of the human mind. It will debut at four unique venues across the UK, launching at London’s Woolwich Public Market (10 May – 24 July 2022) before being presented at Temple of Peace, Cardiff (12 May – 18 June 2022) and then moving onto Belfast and Edinburgh.
Dreamachine will provide audiences and communities with an entirely new way of reconnecting with themselves and each other providing a unique opportunity for shared experiences, dialogue and connection as well as means to be the author of their own experience.
Inspired by an extraordinary 1959 invention by artist Brion Gysin, described as the ‘first artwork to be experienced with your eyes closed’. A seated, multisensory experience; the 21st Century Dreamachine has been created by a team of leading minds in architecture, technology, music, neuroscience, and philosophy, including Turner Prize-winning collective Assemble and Grammy-nominated composer Jon Hopkins.
Like a modern kind of campfire, you’ll share your Dreamachine journey with a group of up to 22 people at a time. An immersive lightscape with 360-degree spatial sound. After your experience, you might be invited to reflect on what you saw, what you heard and how you felt – by yourself, or with others.
How to get involved
The event is free of charge and the programme will be accessible to all audiences above 18 years of age, with inclusion at the heart of the design principles. The model of varying delivery scales enables everyone to take part, connecting people across time and cultures.
Several sessions between the 12 May – 18 June 2022 have been reserved for community groups that will allow visitors to fully enjoy this experience with ease and comfort, and an event we believe your organisation will benefit.
If you would like further information in the project or would like to book in a session, please contact me at (via email).
